Tips for Traveling in Developing Countries

Traveling to both developed and developing countries is equally worthwhile.  Developing countries also offer beauty, richness and wonders. They may not be as modern or highly industrialized compared to others, but these countries are rich with the beauty of both nature and people.  You may be hesitant, but with the proper knowledge and preparation, you will surely have an enjoyable and safe travel.

Be aware about the cultural differences. It is recommended to have a research ahead in order to get familiarized with the cultural background of your chosen destinations.  Gestures may mean a differently  from one country to another.  You should also be aware about the customs, tradition, basic laws and etiquette.

Remember to bring your own toiletries.  You should anticipate that different regions may have differences with personal hygiene as well as amenities.  It is better to be prepared by bringing your own toiletries like tissues, deodorant, wet wipes, toothpaste and soap.

Be careful with the water you drink.  Expect that there will be areas where safe water is not easily accessible. In this situation, it would be better to bring bottled water.  For your safety, you may opt to drink boiling water or hot beverages.

Bring prescriptions and medications.  It is safer to bring a sufficient supply of your prescription if you are going through a medication.  It is also advisable that you pack preventative medication like for stomach illnesses, allergies or colds.

Dress appropriately.  This matters a lot, especially if you are a woman.  Know if there is a certain kind of dress that is required to be worn in certain areas.  To be safe, just dress in a way  you think will not offend the locals or something that will not attract attention of the crowd.

Expect to encounter beggars and to witness poverty.  They are common and they may be anywhere.  You may be approached by children, elderly people or disabled people asking for money. You will also notice people who have unique jobs to earn money.  You will also see the differences with the way of living, with the technology, establishments and infrastructure.
